Caroline Blizzard is the Director of the Deep Creek Lake State Park Discovery Center. Caroline has created a successful education program about monarch butterflies.

In this episode, you will learn how an education program in a park in Maryland has had an impact on the local community as well as a community in Mexico.

Monarch butterflies are used as a gateway butterfly to conservation. Kids learn about the monarch and end up interested in conservation in their community and beyond.

Caroline will also share tips on how you can create a powerful educational program at your park.

The Monarch program is funded through donations and volunteers. Deep Creek Lake State Park works with Monarch Watch to get butterfly tags.

I have heard Caroline present her work with monarchs many, many times and it is just as inspiring as the first time I heard her talk about it! Don’t skip this talk!
